Dr. Christian Boehme is deputy head of the Computing group at the GWDG and is responsible for planning, procurement and operation of the HPC systems operated by the GWDG, such as the National High Performance Computing (NHR) system "Emmy". He received his PhD from the University of Marburg on quantum and computational chemistry. He was PI in BMBF, BMWi and DFG funded, application-oriented projects on secure cloud and grid-based HPC services for industry and research, as well as on user-centric performance monitoring on HPC systems. In the context of planning and benchmarking large HPC systems, he has been intensively involved in scaling issues. Currently, he is also leading work packages on the scaling of machine learning applications and the design of novel machine learning services in a BMBF-funded project and heads the newly founded Quantum Computing team at the GWDG.
